| Description: | Cardiac asthma is a condition in which attacks of shortness of breath due to left-sided heart failure occur. Nursing care for such patients is aimed at relieving symptoms, monitoring for complications and assisting with treatment.
Evaluation and monitoring
Observation of breathing - frequency, depth, type of breathing, presence of wheezing.
Monitoring vital signs - pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation.
Monitoring for symptoms of pulmonary congestion - cough with foamy sputum, cyanosis, restlessness. |
