Code of Conduct

At EUPHA, we are committed to fostering a respectful, fair, and inclusive community within the public health sector. We believe in collaboration, integrity, and a shared responsibility to maintain a professional and ethical environment.

The EUPHA Code of Conduct ensures that all individuals—whether members, staff, volunteers, or representatives—adhere to high standards of respect, honesty, and accountability. It provides clear guidelines on acceptable behavior and establishes a framework for addressing and resolving concerns, ensuring a safe and constructive space for all.

The Code of Conduct applies to:

  • All EUPHA activities, including the European Public Health (EPH) Conference and European Public Health Week (EUPHW) and Sections events
  • All members of the EUPHA community, including staff, volunteers, committee members, and partners.

To uphold the Code of Conduct, EUPHA has established an Advisory Committee, composed of:

Permanent Advisors (Legal & Ethical Expertise)

Their role:

  • Provide guidance to the Executive Council.
  • Train new Confidential Advisers.
  • Offer expertise and support for ethical concerns.

Confidential Advisers (Independent Support & Mediation)

Their role:

  • Serve independently from EUPHA’s governance structures.
  • Offer confidential support to individuals experiencing or witnessing misconduct.
  • Provide mediation when appropriate.
  • Report anonymous annual summaries of concerns and trends to the Executive Council.

Confidential Advisers are bound by strict confidentiality policies, only disclosing information under Dutch legal requirements or in cases of imminent harm.

Responsibilities of the EUPHA Community

All members of the EUPHA community are expected to uphold professionalism, fairness, and inclusivity by:

  • Acting with honesty and transparency in all interactions.
  • Respecting different opinions and focusing on constructive dialogue.
  • Ensuring equal access to opportunities within EUPHA.
  • Respecting confidentiality when required.
  • Standing against harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior.
  • Disclosing conflicts of interest proactively.
