The question of the role of law has gained increasing importance in public health debates. Not only do the international commitments that States have made to reduce disease prevalence often call for regulatory interventions, but there is also a growing recognition that law as a discipline has a major role to play in framing effective public health strategies at local, national, regional and global levels. It is to respond to this evolution that EUPHA has established a new Law and public health section.
