Dear members of the EUPHA Public mental health section,

I hope you are all well in these difficult and challenging times.

It is my pleasure to inform you that we have organized the following

working groups in the field of COVID and Public Mental Health:

  1. Monitoring governance responses to the COVID pandemic
  2. Monitoring Public Mental Health of the general population during and after the pandemic
  3. Vulnerable populations during the COVID – pandemic
  4. Mental health of health and psychosocial care personel during the pandemic.

These working groups are open to everybody. To move forward, I am organizing meetings with the GoTo tool. I hope that many of you are interested to collaborate.

Please send me an email (Jutta.Lindert@hs-emden-leer.de) in case you are interested to collaborate in one or in more of these working groups.

Call for stories: We want to hear your experiences with delivering mental health support during the COVID-19 pandemic

The Mental Health Innovation Network, in collaboration with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Use at the World Health Organization, is creating a blog series to share experiences of front line workers and health systems with the aim of supporting others engaged in similar work. We would like to invite you to make a submission if you are part of a team working in or with your healthcare system in delivering mental health support. This is a great opportunity to highlight Europe’s critical role in sharing mental health and social care best practices in dealing with the pandemic.

We would like to learn about:

  • the pandemic’s effect on the mental health of the general population in your area and that of your service users more specifically,
  • the challenges you have faced in providing mental health services during this time of disruption,
  • the innovations and activities you have initiated to address those challenges,
  • and any recommendations you have for other mental health and social care providers during the COVID-19 outbreak.

To make a submission please email mhin@lshtm.ac.uk and salag@who.int with the subject heading ‘Submission for mental health experiences and practices at times of service disruption’.

More detail on the call is available here in English, Spanish, Italian and French.

Stay well and healthy!

Kind regards

Jutta Lindert
