Dear EUPHA-EPI Section Members,

It has already been three weeks since we convened for our European Public Health Conference in Dublin. It was wonderful to meet many of you for the first time and to reconnect with old friends. We hosted a greatly received pre-conference on qualitative research methods in public health and workshops on vaccine hesitancy, cancer epidemiology, and the burden of injury.

The "Join the Network" meeting, held on Friday, 10 November, was well attended. The minutes from the meeting are available here. During this meeting, we discussed potential topics for the next conference, scheduled to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 12 to 15 November 2024. These topics include skill-building in chronic disease epidemiology (including social epidemiology), biomedical writing for public health research publishing, strategies to handle missing data, and health promotion intervention evaluation. Please contact us if you would like to participate in organizing these workshops (including proposing yourselves or somebody else as a speaker) or have other topic suggestions before 15 January 2024.

Additionally, we are seeking to expand the section's coordination group by establishing a Steering Committee. If you are interested in joining, please send an email to stefania.boccia@unicatt.it with your CV and a cover letter outlining your potential contributions to the section. Steering Committee members are expected to have an established practical or publishing track record in the public health epidemiology field, and the ability to enhance and support the section's activities throughout the year and during the conference. Being a usual attendee of the EPH Conference and a EUPHA member is highly recommended. As a minimum, being a part of the Steering Committee involves virtually meeting 2-4 times per year to provide advice on the section’s strategy, workplan, and activities.

Best wishes,

Stefania, Angelo, and Ralf
