We are excited to share with you some upcoming events and news for the European public health epidemiology community.

  1. Call for Abstracts: 16th European Public Health Conference – ONLY FEW HOURS LEFT
    • We invite all section members to submit an abstract for the 16th European Public Health Conference, taking place in Dublin, Ireland from 8-11 November 2023. The conference theme is "Our Food, Our Health, Our Earth: A Sustainable Future for Humanity." Submit your abstract by 1 May 2023 at 18.00 CET through the conference website: https://ephconference.eu/abstract-submission-10. Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your work, learn from experts, and connect with colleagues from different disciplines and countries.
  1. Webinar with John Ioannidis: Evidence-Based Public Health
    • Join us for a webinar on evidence-based public health with Professor John Ioannidis from Stanford University on 8 May 2023, 15:00 – 16:30 CET. The webinar will discuss the role of evidence in guiding public health for chronic problems and acute crisis circumstances, with examples from chronic diseases and challenges encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic.   1. Now is the moment to present your ideas for the European Public Health Week (EUPHW), an event designed to increase public health consciousness and foster cooperation among Europe's public health professionals.
    • The 2023 European Public Health Week is scheduled for May 22-26, with the overall theme of "Public health: Global issues, local actions." Each day will focus on a unique daily topic. You can plan and host your own event(s) for one or multiple days during the week, and sign up for the newsletter by emailing EUPHAcommunications@eupha.org.
  1. Appointment of Dr Ralf Reintjes as the Section Vice-President
    • We are pleased to announce that Dr Ralf Reintjes, Professor of Epidemiology and Surveillance at the University of Hamburg, has been appointed as the second section Vice-President. We (Stefania and Angelo) look forward to his contributions to the advancement of public health knowledge and practice.

We hope you will participate in these exciting events and engage with the EUPHA-EPI community. Together, we can continue to advance public health knowledge and practice across Europe and beyond.
