Dear colleagues,

After three years leading the IDC section I would like to inform you that I will not be seeking re-election. The past three years with the section have seen huge successes with a bigger than ever presence and visibility for the section at the EPH Conference and meaningful participation in a large range of fora across Europe. COVID19 has made the IDC section highly visible and valuable and I am sure the next president will lead the section in making an impactful contribution to the fight against COVID19 and other infectious diseases.

Therefore, the Infectious diseases control section is looking for a new section president. The EUPHA-IDC presidency is a great opportunity to collaborate with various European public health experts.

We are looking for persons, who are full EUPHA members, have research or working experiences in the fields of public health and health economics.  The appointment is for three years and can be re-nominated for a second three-year term.

These are the tasks that come along with the position:

• Regular communication with the EUPHA-IDC vice-president, the EUPHA-IDC Steering Group, and section members.
• Support of EUPHA activities like the European Public Health Conference (EPHC) or the European Public Health Week.
• Participation at the annual Section Council Meeting that usually takes place in February in Utrecht. In this meeting, section activities, such as the annual EPHC, are planned.
• Submission of pre-conference and workshop proposals for the EPHC.
• Acting as contact point for section members who aim to submit a workshop or pre-conference related event during the EPHC.
• Assisting EUPHA in setting up the scientific EPHC program, scoring submitted abstracts, and chairing workshops and sessions during the EPHC.
• Organization of the annual Join the Network Meeting during the EPHC.
• Compilation of an annual report and minutes of the Join the Network Meeting.

Any costs for travel and requested attendance to meetings/conferences is reimbursed by EUPHA.

What happens next?

• applicants are checked by the EUPHA office for EUPHA membership and conflict of interest and you will be asked to sign a conflict of interest form upon election;
• nominations are sent to the Section President and the Steering Committee for discussion;
• applications of final nominees are forwarded to section members for voting;
• the votes of the section members are collected centrally at the EUPHA office;
• the applicant with the highest number of votes is elected as Section President.

The term starts right after the upcoming EPH Conference, which is held from 10-12 November.

The vice-president is nominated by the new section president together with the EUPHA-IDC Steering Group.
