Dear Section members,

This month, we have updates from the EUPHA Section Council meeting to share, plus a reminder about European Public Health Week and support available with drafting an abstract for the EPH Conference. We're also planning an online meeting in March, and we have a call out to ECR members who would be interested in joining our Steering Group.

Updates from the Section Council meeting

  • EUPHA and WHO Memorandum of Understanding: A MoU has been signed between EUPHA and WHO Euro teams. The MoU covers special topics for collaboration include mental health, behavioral and cultural insights, health equity, social and economic determinants of health, and addressing noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) with innovative solutions. European Public Health Week 2024

We continue to collect ideas for events/webinars to celebrate European Public Health Week (EUPHW), May 13–17. Let us know if you would like to volunteer to co-host or help run any event.

Abstract tutoring programme for EPH Conference 2024

#EPH24 is scheduled for November 12-15, 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal (including pre-conference activities). Abstract submission is currently open and it will remain open until May 1 at 18:00 CET. From our earlier survey, we know that a few of our members would welcome support with drafting an abstract. Our friends at EUPHAnxt are organising an abstract tutoring programme for the conference, open until April 9 at 12:00 (noon) CET. The programme is especially targeted at researchers who have limited access to colleagues to ask for guidance and comments on their proposed abstracts. The programme is completely independent of the abstract review and selection process. Experienced reviewers from the International Scientific Committee and EUPHA Sections will act as tutors. If you are interested in the programme, please follow these steps:

  1. Prepare a draft abstract in accordance with the instructions for single abstracts

  2. Indicate the topic of your abstract

  3. Send your anonymous draft abstract as a Word document for tutoring to: abstract@ephconference.edu with the subject “Abstract tutoring programme.”
