Planetary Health Task Group (EUPHA ENV)

Our section has had a specific Planetary Health Task group since January 2023. We held a meeting on December 8th 2023 with interested members. The EUPHA Environment Section and its Task Group on Planetary Health support the fact that European Public Health professionals should understand how public health is deeply connected to the health of our planet and the best ways to collaborate to act on this relationship through education, research and practice.

We will continue to work, planning activities in advocacy in the field among public health professionals and  we are planning to organize the workshop in the next EUPHA Conference in Lisbon together with partner Sections.

Consider signing - Academic Health Institutions’ Declaration on Planetary Health

As academic health institutions declare the health of the planet a Code Red emergency and call for immediate implementation of planetary health education and research, and the transition to climate-resilient and low-carbon health systems in order to build a healthy, sustainable, and just future for all. EUPHA-ENV invites you to sign – individually or through your institution – the Academic Health Institutions’ Declaration on Planetary Health.
The declaration aims to take immediate action to halt both the negative impact of their activities on the planet’s natural systems, and to institute adaptive and regenerative measures, including through advocacy.

Climate Pact Ambassador work

EUPHA ENV advocates for targeted climate action using evidence-based policies. Going beyond business-as-usual activities to address climate change through targeted discussions, workshops and meetings for medical professionals.  EUPHA (and Environment and Health Section) share information, supports actions and insist on the importance of education, respecting the EU Green Deal, Paris Agreement and SDGs as a roadmap for action.
