Dear EUPHA Chronic diseases section members,

We are happy to announce that the Chronic Disease Section has started the year with a very well received initiative of connecting with our members through a webinar series. The first webinar took place on the 25^th of January at 4pm CET, where Prof. Saverio Stranges, the President of the section, presented a very interesting presentation on the “Epidemiology and prevention of chronic diseases: Global health perspectives”. This was followed by an engaging discussion.

The next webinar is set for the 29^th of February at 4pm CET, where our colleagues from Hungry, Orsolya Varga, Nour Mahrouseh and Carlos Alexandre Soares Andrade, will be presenting their work entitled “A national and sub-national analysis of diabetes mellitus prevalence and health inequalities in Europe”.

Presenting the new Section Steering Committee members

A call for volunteers to join the section steering committee was issued last month. It is with pleasure to announce that this call was well received, and we welcome nine members to the section steering committee along with Saverio Stranges, Sarah Cuschieri, Julian Mamo, Iveta Nagyova, Tatjana Makovski and Raffaele Palladino. European Public Health (EPH) Conference – Abstract / Workshop

This year the annual EPH conference will be held in Lisbon between the 12^th to 15^th November. The abstract submission is now open! If you are interested to organize a workshop or panel discussions with the Chronic Diseases Section, feel free to reach out.

Other news

The president of the section, Saverio, will be representing the Chronic diseases section in the EUPHA Section Council meeting that is scheduled to take place on 12^th and 13^th of February in Utrecht.
