Dear colleagues,

I hope this finds you and your families well and that you will all have a chance to have a break this summer, especially given the phenominal heat affecting Europe.

I write to you to encourage you all to attend the EUPHA conference and especially to our join the network meeting, scheduled for the Friday lunchtime slot.

This year, my time as president of this section is expiring and I wish to urge you all to attend the meeting and elect a new president.

Over the past 3 years that I have been priveleged to head this section I have had the pleasure to collaborate with a steering group comprising our current EUPHA president (and the former president of section Iveta Nagyova) as well as Saverio Stranges and Sarah Cuschieri.

All our group have planned very successful and popular worskhops at each annual conference and it has been a real pleasure to collaborate and see the brilliant fruit of their work.  There have been other activities and plans, including at this years Publc Health week but now it is time for a new presdent to take us to the next step.

At this point, I urge you all to consider becoming more actively involved in our section activities.

You may do this by nominating yourselves for a steering group within this section. You may also wish to send us key words describing the main areas of your research or activities within public health such that we can set up themed committees to generate new activities,

We have also been able to generate some seed funding for a themed public health conference to be spearheaded by Prof Saverio Stranges in cooperation with colleauges at the University of Naples (where we hope to host thisconference). More about that in the months ahead.

Do get in touch by writing to me at: julian@julianmamo.com

I very much look forward to hearing from you!

Keep well (and properlyhydrated through these hot weeks)

with very best regards,

Julian
