Dear EUPHA-EPI Section Members,

The 16th European Public Health (EPH) Conference 2023 in Dublin is starting now! The EUPHA-EPI "Join the Network" (JTN) meeting is organised on Friday, 10 November, from 12:50 to 13:50 in Wicklow Hall 2A. You are all invited to participate and bring delegates interested in the field of public health epidemiology. This is your opportunity to get involved within the EUPHA-EPI activities, and suggest conference or pre-conference session topics.

EUPHA-EPI has organized various sessions during this EPH Conference. Among them, a workshop entitled “Exploring vaccine hesitancy in Europe: understanding complexities and determinants” will be held on Thursday, 9 November, from 9:00 to 10:00 in Liffey Hall 2. This workshop will explore the intricate dynamics of vaccine hesitancy in Europe, delving into various contexts such as Western and Eastern European countries, ethnic minorities, and among healthcare professionals. Later in the afternoon, from 15:10 to 16:10, EUPHA-EPI has organized a roundtable entitled "Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention: which opportunities from the EU Cancer Mission?". Join us in Liffey Meeting Room 2 for a critical discussion featuring EUPHA Past President and chair of the EU Mission on Cancer, Prof Walter Ricciardi, and EUPHA President elect, Prof Tit Albreht, as we navigate the complexities of implementing Europe's Beating Cancer Plan in the face of rising cancer rates and economic burdens.

In addition, don’t miss the two Epidemiology Poster Walk on Foyer Level 3 that will happen on Friday 10 November from 11:40 to 12:40 and from 15:10 to 16:10.

Finally, as promised during the last JTN meeting, EUPHA-EPI organised a pre-conference on qualitative research entitled “A hands-on introduction to qualitative research methods in public health” with Dr. Rosie Frasso and Dr. Amy Leader, from Thomas Jefferson University, as the main speakers. The pre-conference took place on Wednesday, 8 November, from 09:00 to 17:00 and was very well received by the audience.

See you at the conference,

The EUPHA-EPI team
