Greetings from the Social Security, Work and Health Section of EUPHA.

It was great to see so many of you at the conference in Berlin 2022, especially at our Section’s preconference, workshops, seminars and Join the Network (JtN) meeting. At the JtN meeting, we also installed dr. Emilie Friberg from the Karolinska Institutet, Sweden as new vice-president of the SSWH section and dr. Femke Abma from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands as chair of the SSWH Future Group. Congratulations Emilie and Femke!

It is our great pleasure to announce the 3^rd in-between SSWH conference seminar (see the program and detailed information below). Moreover, we share a short reflection on our preconference in Berlin.

As we prepare for the activities of our Section for the 16^th EPH Conference in Dublin, Ireland from 8.-11. November 2023 with the title “Our Food, our Health, our Earth: A Sustainable Future for Humanity”, please feel free to share ideas with us for workshops or abstracts. The deadline for abstract submission is May 1^st, 2023.

Invitation to the 3rd in-between conference seminar from the Section of Social Security Work and Health

At this digital seminar we will aim to showcase the range of research going on within the research field by letting a number of researchers present their projects. We will also allow plenty of time for questions and discussions. We hope that many will take the opportunity to meet up and be inspired!

BERLIN 2022 – short reflection on the Preconference

The pre-conference in Berlin focused on “Methods in longitudinal studies on social security, work and health - defining measurements, statistical analyses and ethical issues”. The topics ranged from the detailed level of measurements and statistical techniques, to the broad and conceptual level of ethical and political considerations when researching social security, work and health. The pre-conference combined talks on current methodological developments followed by plenary discussions on the topics of the presentations, with vivid round-table discussions between the participants.
