Greetings from the Chronic Diseases section of EUPHA

It was great to see so many of you at the conference in Berlin last November, especially at our Section meeting.

I am writing to you as we prepare for the activities of our Section for this year. In particular, we are already planning our activities for this year's conference.

Our Food, Our Health, Our Earth :

A Sustainable Future for Humanity

Dublin, Ireland, 8 - 11 November 2023

The Section heads of EUPHA will be meeting up shortly to collaborate on a number of workshops and themes for this year’s conference. Our own section steering committee has met up and proposed the following titles for workshops.:

1. The role of sleep in chronic disease prevention and management (lead: Saverio Stranges)
2. Public health challenges in chronic diseases prevention and management in small European countries (leads Saverio Stranges & Sarah Cuschieri)
3. Environmental sustainability of dietary patterns for chronic disease prevention (lead: Saverio Stranges)
4. Obesity: the greatest burden of the 21st Century and the post-pandemic (lead: Sarah Cuschieri)
5. Long COVID: A Myth or a reality? (lead: Sarah Cuschieri)

These themes are in part based on the very successful workshops held last year in Berlin. For this year Professor Saverio Stranges will represent our Section at the Section meeting

We would like each of you to consider being more active on our section by:

• Proposing potential speakers for such workshops (including your own selves)
• Suggesting other workshops for the European Public Health conference in Dublin 2023
• Considering how else to get involved including submitting your own abstracts or collaborating with us on workshops of special interest to you
