Welcome to the April edition of the EUPHAnxt newsletter! To those of our followers who celebrate Easter, we hope you had/will have a restful and joyous holiday weekend. As always, we are very excited to share opportunities and events which could be relevant to you, as young public health professionals. You are encouraged to share similar content with us and we would be pleased to disseminate it to our network. Be sure to check out our socials (see icons above). The World Congress on Public Health will be back in-person next year and the congress theme is “A World in Turmoil: Opportunities to Focus on the Public’s Health.” Online registration is open until April 26, 2023 and there is a special student rate available. Learn more here!

European Public Health Week

Mark your calendars for the upcoming European Public Health Week (EUPHW) which will take place 22- 26 May, 2023. The overall theme is: Public health: Global issues, local actions. Each day will focus on specific topics:

  • Monday, May 22: Mental health for all
  • Tuesday, May 23: Diversity in health
  • Wednesday, May 24: Access to care
  • Thursday, May 25: Prevention and control of chronic diseases
  • Friday, May 26: Global health emergencies and response

The Strategic Litigation and Public Health Conference

The Conference will be held at the University of Liverpool June 15- 16, 2023. Are you interested in public health law? Be sure join the EUPHA section here and stay tuned for further details on the upcoming conference.

The Observatory Venice Summer School

The Observatory Venice Summer School is a one-week intensive course organized by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies in collaboration with the European Commission, World Health Organization and the Veneto Region. The deadline for applications is May 31, 2023. Apply here!

16th European Public Health Conference

The 16th European Public Health Conference will be held in Dublin, Ireland and the conference will focus on a sustainable future. Abstract submission is now open until May 1, 2023 and registration will open April 1, 2023. Learn more about the conference here.

Take part in the ‘Ference Bojan Young Investigators Aware’ Competition- The best five abstracts, submitted by young researchers under the age of 35, will be presented in the Ferenc Bojan Young Investigators Award session. The Ferenc Bojan session is an oral session, but with a jury consisting of experienced researchers to select the best abstract/ presentation combination. The winner will be awarded a certificate and waiver of registration fees for the next EPH Conference in Lisbon. Read more here.

ESCAIDE

ESCAIDE is the European Scientific Conference for Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology, organised by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). The call for abstracts for this year’s  conference is open until May 15, 2023. Learn more and submit here!

The Young Forum Gastein (YFG)

The Young Forum Gastein (YFG) 2023 call for applications is open! This year, the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) will once again offer a limited number of scholarships to enable young health professionals from the WHO European Region to participate in our YFG programme. Learn more here!

The French Health Data Hub had launch two data challenges. Data scientists are invited take part in the challenges, including Predicting Melanoma Relapse. Learn more about the challenges here.

The European Association for Cancer Research has launched a new podcast series called The Cancer Researcher Podcast. Listen here!

The Leibniz ScienceCampus Digital Public Health (LSC DiPH) is organizing a 5-day summer school on designing, evaluating and implementing digital public health interventions. The summer school will take place July 10-14 2023 in Bremen, Germany. Registration deadline is April 26, 2023. Learn more here!

The IARC has posted new post-doctoral opportunities to contribute to the European Code Against Cancer, including cancer surveillance positions. Learn more about the project descriptions here!
