European Public Health Week

Mark your calendars for the upcoming European Public Health Week (EUPHW) which will take place 22- 26 May, 2023. The overall theme is: Public health: Global issues, local actions. Each day will focus on specific topics:

  • Monday, May 22: Mental health for all
  • Tuesday, May 23: Diversity in health
  • Wednesday, May 24: Access to care
  • Thursday, May 25: Prevention and control of chronic diseases
  • Friday, May 26: Global health emergencies and response

World Congress on Public Health

The World Congress on Public Health will be back in-person next year and the congress theme is “A World in Turmoil: Opportunities to Focus on the Public’s Health.” Online registration is open until April 26, 2023 and there is a special student rate available. Learn more here!

The Strategic Litigation and Public Health Conference

The Conference will be held at the University of Liverpool June 15- 16, 2023. Are you interested in public health law? Be sure join the

16th European Public Health Conference

The 16th European Public Health Conference will be held in Dublin, Ireland and the conference will focus on a sustainable future. Abstract submission is now open until May 1, 2023 and registration will open April 1, 2023. Learn more about the conference here.

In collaboration with EUPHAnxt, an abstract tutoring programme is offered for young and/or less experienced abstract submitters to receive feedback from experienced reviewers. The programme is especially targeted at researchers who have limited access to colleagues to ask for guidance and comments on their proposed abstracts. The deadline for this programme is April, 9 2023 and more details are available here.

Take part in the ‘Ference Bojan Young Investigators Aware’ Competition- The best five abstracts, submitted by young researchers under the age of 35, will be presented in the Ferenc Bojan Young Investigators Award session. The Ferenc Bojan session is an oral session, but with a jury consisting of experienced researchers to select the best abstract/ presentation combination. The winner will be awarded a certificate and waiver of registration fees for the next EPH Conference in Lisbon. Read more here.

WHO/Europe is launching an exciting new training course on alcohol and public health in Europe for early career researchers, starting in May 2023. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2023. Learn more and apply here.

The Global Health Next Generation Network has launched “Career Stories” which is a compilation of interviews in which global public health professionals discuss their career paths and personal experiences. They also give some advice for future young professionals that are interested in global health. Learn more here
There are several open positions for “Careers Stories” including an editor and interviewer. All positions are volunteer based and require 5 hours per week. Learn more and apply here!

Sciensano, a Belgian public health institution, has several new vacancies posted this month. The open positions, including an internship within the EU Health Information System unit, with the the population health information research infrastructure.
