Season’s greetings and welcome to the December newsletter. We’d like to take a moment to thank you all for a great year, the best one to date for EUPHAnxt! We enjoyed meeting those who attended the #EPH2022 conference in-person and we look forward to meeting many more of you in 2023. As a network, we try to promote relevant events, training, and opportunities specific for young professionals in the field of public health. Please send along anything relevant to: info.euphanxt@eupha.org. Our goal is to enhance our public health promotion in the coming year. EUPHAnxt is also open to partner with student organisations in Europe. If you are a part of an organisation that may be interested in joining forces, or if you have any recommendations for the next newsletter, please contact us.

We have a new working group within EUPHA on health literacy. If you are interested in joining, please e-mail orkan.okan(at)tum.de.

NOTE: If you wish to receive the monthly newsletter directly to your inbox and avoid it going directly to spam, please add euphanxt@eupha.org to your contacts/address book.

A letter from our EUPHAnxt coordinator

Dear EUPHAnxt network,

A bittersweet feeling is coming to me as another year has passed, with many victories and losses. As the EUPHAnxt coordinator, I must admit that we had a glorious year, which culminated with the EPH Conference in Berlin, and which is the result of the hard work of my amazing team, Charlotte and Jinane. At a personal level, I believe that I could have done more and been better. Nevertheless, I realised quickly I got trapped in one of the most encountered pitfalls of the young generation – judging ourselves too harshly and selling ourselves short. In 2023, I aspire to be kinder to myself and that we, as a generation, will be kinder, braver, and more aware of our worth. Since this is an end-of-the-year letter, I feel compelled to wrap up the year and to only count the victories. As always, I will start with thanks.

  • Firstly, I will thank my team, Jinane and Charlotte, who are doing a terrific job, putting many hours of work, outside of their day-to-day job, toward EUPHAnxt. It is not always easy, but they are managing everything gracefully and without them, EUPHAnxt would not be possible.
  • Thank you, Laura, for all the work you have done in the past years for EUPHAnxt, you did a marvellous job.
  • Thank you, EUPHAnxt network for continuously being with us, you are the reason behind all our actions. Thank you to all our partner organizations for your collaboration and support, it is greatly appreciated.
  • And thank you, EUPHA for continuously empowering us in all our activities and even further.

Regarding our activities, which were plentiful and appreciated, we hope that we managed to reach your needs with it and if not, please let us know what are your suggestions for the upcoming year. We were very active this year, both within our activities and those organized by our partners. We prepared four events during the European Public Health Week and seven workshops during the 15th EPH Conference. We are glad that we were able to finally meet in person and enjoy the scientific and social activities together. During the EPH conference, we had six incredible fellows that attended the sessions, reported on them, interviewed speakers, and recorded the YUPT podcasts. Thank you, Ana, Ana, Diana, Edoardo, Leonie, and Nora for briefly joining the team! We are looking forward to the next conference in Dublin.

Our EUPHA office team will soon be joined by two interns which we facilitated during this year. Because of everyone’s work, the EUPHAnxt network now has even more members, totalling approximately 1000 young professionals that decided to subscribe to our monthly newsletter or to follow us on social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook). Thank you for tuning in and welcome to our network!

Next year will be an even better one, so I suggest following us closely as we have many surprises already prepared for you. As a sneak peak, I would only mention professional and personal development opportunities, getting together, and more networking. Have a relaxing, peaceful, and happy holiday, full of love and the people dearest to you. We are looking forward to seeing you next year, and to working and growing together. Thank you! I am beyond grateful to coordinate such an amazing network.

With gratitude,

Monica

EUPHAnxt coordinator
