EUPHA has joined 186 civil society organisations from across Europe in calling on the European Commission to restore meaningful, adequate and predictable operating grants for EU health civil society under EU4Health in 2026 and beyond.
Patients, communities, citizens and independent experts must have a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their health. Sustainable funding enables civil society organisations to represent these voices, contribute independent expertise and participate consistently in EU policymaking.
Since EU4Health operating grants were discontinued in 2025, health civil society organisations have faced staff cuts, office closures and significantly reduced activities. As the EU prepares its next Multiannual Financial Framework, this also raises concerns about the future of civil society organisations across other sectors.
The 187 signatories join Member States and Members of the European Parliament in urging the European Commission to restore sustainable operating grants and turn the commitments of the EU Civil Society Strategy into action.
