We’ve had a busy start to 2024 for our network of young public health professionals, and we anticipate many more great opportunities and events, including the European Public Health Week in May and the European Public Health Conference in November. SAVE THE DATE: EUPHAnxt is organising an event on the last day of the European Public Health Week (Friday, 17 May). Our subscribers can attend both online or in-person (Brussels, Belgium) but make sure you register as soon as possible! For those of you who are new to our network, EUPHAnxt is a unique network within EUPHA for students and young professionals, including early career researchers and policymakers, in the field of public health. EUPHAnxt is a free and open initiative that aims to inform and involve future generations in the European and multidisciplinary network of public health associations.

You are encouraged to share related opportunities and events with us and we would be pleased to disseminate it to our network. EUPHAnxt is open to partnering with student organisations in Europe. If you are a part of an organisation that may be interested in joining forces, please contact us. Upcoming events

The first Mission Cancer project cluster policy webinar will explore how to work together to make better use of project results in the area of understanding cancer. The webinar will take place on 16 April from 09:30-12:30. Register for the event here!

Join the EUPHA webinar series with the next instalment: “Surveillance bias of Cancer.” This webinar is scheduled for 25 April, 2024 from 16:00-17:00 CET. Researchers from the University of Fribourg will illustrate the issue of surveillance bias of cancer using multiple examples and suggest potential approaches to address it. The health workforce is a key concern for policy makers, striving to maintain the capacity and improve the performance of their health systems. The summer school, organized by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, the Veneto Region of Italy, the European Commission and World Health Organization (WHO), accepts applications from all 53 WHO European Region Member States. The deadline for applying is 31 May 2024. Learn more here.

The 2024 European Public Health Week (EUPHW), which will take place from May 13-17, 2024, will focus on the important notion that public health is a political choice. The 2024 European Public Health Week daily themes are:o   Monday, 13 May: Health is a political choice: Starting the discussiono   Tuesday, 14 May: Mental health: People at the centreo   Wednesday, 15 May: Planetary health: A global approacho   Thursday, 16 May: Health through the life course: Breaking down siloso   Friday, 17 May: Next generation: Public health of today and tomorrowWe are proud to be the daily partner on Friday, where we will put the next generation of public health leaders in focus, as new perspectives are essential to create ground-breaking innovations and challenge the status quo. As daily partners, we are organising a hybrid event with in-person participation in Brussels and online streaming. If you are interested in attending our event, register here. Mark your calendars! #EPH24 is scheduled for 12-15 November, 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal and registration is now open! Abstract submission and registration is currently open and it will remain open until 1 May (18:00 CET).  We are in the midst of brainstorming EUPHAnxt sessions for the upcoming conference and we invite you to be involved! Do you have an idea for an engaging workshop, seminar, or round table?  Send us your ideas at info.euphanxt@eupha.org and we can start planning together.

Sailing the waves of European public health: exploring a sea of innovation is the main theme for the conference. Just as explorers once set sail to discover new worlds, we, as public health professionals, embark on a journey of innovation and discovery in our field. Opportunities

The World Health Organization is seeking a Learning Manager for their new state-of-the-art learning institution that aims to revolutionize lifelong learning for health impact and reach million learners around the world. Based in Lyon, France, the ‘Academy’ Campus will offer a wide range of learning modalities (on-line, face-to-face and blended); digital, in-person learning via the hub in Lyon or through the campus network, as well as portable learning laboratories designed for contexts where participants cannot travel or access the digital learning platform. Deadline for applying is Sunday, 14 April. Learn more and apply here.

PhD applications are now being accepted for the Structured Population health, Policy, and Health services Research Education (SPHeRE) PhD Programme in Dublin, Ireland. Applicants who wish to apply for a funded project must submit an application form and select their preferred project (or a maximum of three projects). Six scholarships are available for the 2024 academic year. The deadline for SPHeRE funded scholarship applications is Monday, 22 April. Learn more and apply here.

The European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) is an agency within the European Commission to implement actions that strengthen Europe in the domains of health, food safety, digital technologies and networks, industrial capacities and space.
