Dear EUPHAnxt subscribers, 

You are all very welcome to the June edition of the EUPHAnxt newsletter. In this newsletter, we will promote upcoming events and opportunities throughout the summer months, and into to autumn, including the European Public Health Conference this November in Lisbon, Portugal where we look forward to planning a variety of events and workshops. We are now accepting applications for our Fellowship Programme 2024, as part of the 17th European Public Health (EPH) Conference taking place in Lisbon, Portugal between the 12th and the 15th November 2024. The deadline for applying is June 26, 2024 (23:59). Further details on the programme are listed in the EPH Conference Preview section below. For those of you who are new to our network, EUPHAnxt is a unique network within EUPHA for students and young professionals, including early career researchers and policymakers, in the field of public health. EUPHAnxt is a free and open initiative that aims to inform and involve future generations in the European and multidisciplinary network of public health associations.

Additionally, we would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Charlotte, our wonderful communication manager, who recently graduated on May 30, 2024, officially becoming Dr. Charlotte Myers. We are very happy for you & well done for all your hard work!

You are encouraged to share related opportunities and events with us and we would be pleased to disseminate it to our network. EUPHAnxt is open to partnering with student organisations in Europe. European Public Health Week (EUPHW) Wrap-Up

Thanks to everyone who participated in the EUPHW, which took place from May 13-17, 2024. “Health is a political choice” was the theme for the week and on this theme, we hope all of our subscribers took advantage of their voting right and voted in the recent European elections, which took place from June 6-9, 2024.

A special thank you to our partners for making our network event possible, including the European Commission’s DG SANTE, WHO Euro’s Youth for Health Network, Young Forum Gastein, European Nursing Student Association  (ENSA), European Federation of Psychology Students’ Associations (EFPSA), European Network of Medical Residents in Public Health (EuroNet MRPH), the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER), the UNESCO Chair Global Health and Education, Young WFPHA, and the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF). And thank you to all those who participated and made our event meaningful.

The 2024 Global Health Literacy Summit is organized by the International Health Literacy Association, together with Careum and the Dutch Health Literacy Alliance, and it will take place September 18-20, 2024 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. EPH Conference Preview

Mark your calendars! #EPH24 is scheduled for November 12- 15, 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal and registration is open. The registration fee will increase from September 1, so be sure to register soon and note there are reduced fees for current students and trainees. And please note, abstract results are out! Check your registered e-mail for details on your abstract submission.

Additionally, EUPHA and EPH Conference Foundation have set up the Jouke van der Zee Fund offering registration fee waivers to delegates from lower-middle and upper-middle income countries in the WHO European Region and have an active role at the EPH Conference 2024. You may apply for a waiver if you have an oral/poster presentation or are a speaker/panellist in a workshop and come from one of the eligible countries (listed on our website). The deadline for applying is July 1, 2024. Read more and apply here.

Sailing the waves of European public health: exploring a sea of innovation is the main theme for the conference. Just as explorers once set sail to discover new worlds, we, as public health professionals, embark on a journey of innovation and discovery in our field. We seek to push the boundaries, discover new approaches, and chart the course for the future of public health in Europe. Sub-themes of the EPH Conference 2024 include:

• Social Marking in Public Health
• Health inequalities
• Global health

Call for applications for the EUPHA Fellowship 2024!

EUPHA and EUPHAnxt are looking for six enthusiastic individuals who are ready to show initiative in promoting the 17th EPH Conference taking place in Lisbon, Portugal between the 12th and the 15th November 2024. The selected fellows will:

• Have the opportunity to work alongside the EUPHAnxt team, the EUPHA office and the conference team to disseminate information about the conference through various communication platforms;
• Take part in mentoring sessions with renowned public health experts;
• Have the opportunity to network at the European Public Health Conference;
• Receive a signed certificate of appreciation from EUPHA;
• Receive a conference fee waiver;
• Participate in the conference preparatory meeting;
• Attend the agreed upon sessions;
• Interview conference participants and report on that through blogposts;
• Post on EUPHAnxt’s social media accounts information about the sessions and the
• experience of being a fellow;
• Attend the mentoring sessions;
• Submit a short daily summary of the sessions attended;
• Contribute to the YUPT (Yesterday’s Updates, Plans for Today) podcast;

How to apply? If you want to submit your application for the Fellowship Programme 2024, please fill in this form. Please note that it is required to have (at least) one abstract accepted and/or present at the 17th European Public Health Conference 2024. Send in your application before 26th June 2024 (23:59 CEST).

The pre-conference programme, which takes place Monday, November 11 and Tuesday, November 12, has just been announced. The themes include: cancer prevention; health literacy; European Health Data Space; Artificial Intelligence; digital health; strategic foresight methodology; behavioural and cultural insights; social security, work and health; prevention and preparedness; syndromic surveillance systems; enhancing your writing skills; and future health scenarios. The Interacademy Partnership (AIP) is seeking candidates for the 2024 IAP Young Physician Leaders (YPL) Programme which will be held October 11-13, 2024 in conjunction with the World Health Summit (WHS) in Berlin, Germany, which is scheduled for October 13-15, 2024.
