Call for a new Public mental health section president

Dear section members,

According to the EUPHA Section Rules a new president needs to be elected in 2020.

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic persons, who are full EUPHA members, have working experiences in the field of public mental health and ideally work in a research institute which is dedicated to promoting and supporting Public Mental Health in research, teaching and practice. Ideally the candidate has been active in the PMH section. The appointment is for three years and can be re-nominated once.

The EUPHA-PMH  presidency is a great opportunity to collaborate with various European health information experts

These are the tasks that come along with the position:

  • Regular communication with the EUPHA-PMH vice-president, the EUPHA-PMH Steering Group, and PMH section members.
  • Support of EUPHA activities like the European Public Health Conference (EPHC) or the European Public Health Week.
  • Participation at the annual Section Council Meeting that usually takes place in February in Utrecht. In this meeting section activities, especially during the annual EPHC are planned.
  • Submission of pre-conference and workshop proposals for the EPHC.
  • Acting as contact point for section members who aim to submit a mental health related related event during the EPHC.
  • Assisting EUPHA in setting up the scientific EPHC program, scoring submitted abstracts, and chairing workshops and sessions during the EPHC.
  • Organization of the annual Join the Network Meeting during the EPHC.
  • Representation of EUPHA in international consortia like the WHO European Health Information Initiative.
  • Compilation of an annual report and minutes of the Join the Network Meeting.

Any costs for travel and requested attendance serving the PMH section is reimbursed by EUPHA.

What happens next?

  • applicants are checked by the EUPHA office for EUPHA membership and any conflict of interest and you will be asked to signed a conflict of interest form upon election
  • nominations are sent to the Section President and the Steering Committee for discussion
  • applications of final nominees are forwarded to section members for voting,
  • the votes of the section members are collected centrally at the EUPHA office,
  • the applicant with the highest number of votes is elected as Section President.
