We are only a few months away from the 17th European Public Health Conference 2024 in Lisbon, and we want to make sure you don't miss out on the upcoming events involving the Digital Health section! In particular, we would like to draw your attention to three pre-conference sessions focusing on developing digital health curricula, navigating AI in public health, and exploring future health scenarios. PRE-CONFERENCE SESSIONS

Developing curricula that empower the public health workforce to lead the digital transformations in health

Tuesday 12 November, 09:00-12:30, Lisbon time (followed by network lunch)
Organised by EUPHA Digital Health section, ASPHER, DGPH Digital health section

Objectives: during this workshop, we will learn about best practices in teaching digital public health from colleagues in Germany, Poland, the UK, and France. We will also facilitate hands-on work in groups, during which participants will learn how to use ASPHER’s new Core Curriculum tools to introduce digital competencies into their courses.This pre-conference workshop has been designed for public health educators of all experience levels, and no prior knowledge of digital transformations is required.

Navigating the digital tide: preparing public health for the AI revolution

Organised by EUPHA Digital Health section

Objectives: The pre-conference 'Navigating the digital tide: preparing public health for the AI revolution' is designed to provide public health professionals with a substantive understanding of the opportunities and challenges presented by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of public health. This session aligns with the overarching theme of the main conference, exploring innovation in European public health, by focusing on practical applications and ethical considerations of AI technologies. This session will introduce fundamental concepts of AI and data science, aiming to build a common understanding among attendees, regardless of their prior technical knowledge. This foundational knowledge is essential for critically assessing how AI tools can be integrated and utilized effectively within public health frameworks.

Future health scenarios in the European Union and the United States

Tue 12 November, 14:00-18:00, (Lisbon time) at the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), Rua Sacramento à Lapa 21, Lisbon 

Organised by Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública (ENSP), Portugal

Objectives: the pre-conference will feature a high-level panel including representatives from European Union institutions and the United States, followed by a discussion session with the audience. We will explore the multifaceted approaches required to bolster health systems, ensuring they are not only crisis-resilient but also equipped to sustainably manage the growing healthcare needs of diverse populations. Moreover, it will highlight the critical levers that can facilitate strengthened cooperation and resilience, particularly between Europe and the United States.
