European Public Health Association
Dear colleagues and friends,
I hope this finds you and your families well.
We are living in strange times and never before has Public Health been so important globally nor so much talked about by so many people of all ages from all walks of life!
But that is not all. We have never seen so many political figures struggle with public health policies and plans, never seen national economics so tightly weighed up against public health measures and never witnessed inequalities soar so much in such a short time!
Never did the world we live in ever require level headed public health advice as it does today.
That’s why we must research, discuss and debate like never before – on COVID prevention, COVID vaccination, policies to overcome the COVID pandemic – but not only…
We must also discuss how chronic diseases are being forgotten in our struggle with this new threat. It is time to raise the flag for the many millions suffering from Cancers, mental illness, osteoarthritis and a host of other diseases. Those whose care plans seem to have been put on hold for longer than ‘on hold’ should ever mean.
I hope we can discuss these issues together and more at this year’s European Public Health conference which should be based in Dublin but will be virtual and so all of you can attend from wherever you are!
