PHMR is looking for Steering Group Members!
The EUPHA Section on Public Health Monitoring and Reporting (PHMR) is looking for three to four enthusiastic and motivated colleagues to join its Steering Group. As a member, you will have the opportunity to help shape the section’s strategic direction, contribute to collaborative activities across Europe, and strengthen the role of health monitoring and reporting in public health research and policy. This is a great chance to engage with an international network, exchange expertise, and actively support the development of innovative approaches in health information.
If you are interested in contributing your experience and ideas, we invite you to express your interest in joining the Steering Group by contacting its president Hanna Tolonen (hanna.tolonen [at] thl.fi). Please, provide your short CV and max half a page description of how you would contribute to the section activities by 30th September 2025.
Representing PHMR in the EUPHAnxt Youth Advisory Hub
We are particularly interested in finding someone who would be interested in representing our section in the EUPHAnxt Youth Advisory Hub.
Profile of the Youth Representative:
- A student, young professional, or early-career public health expert (preferably under the age of 35, though this is not mandatory, especially for professionals newly entering the field of public health);
- Actively involved in the section’s activities;
- Willing to contribute to strengthening youth engagement in EUPHA/EUPHAnxt.

What are we reading?
The Joint Action PreventNCD represents a significant effort to enhance European Member States’ capacities in NCD prevention. Key outcomes include the identification and implementation of effective policies and practices, along with the establishment of long-term institutional mechanisms to ensure sustained NCD prevention and health promotion efforts.
Europe requires a coordinated, continent-wide approach to effectively address the rising burden of non-communicable diseases. This paper emphasizes translating WHO-Europe findings into concrete, actionable strategies through strong cross-national collaboration and shared policy initiatives.
Evidence-informed policymaking is needed more than ever. This report is based on a multi-country project which aimed to support countries in their reforms towards a) improved capacity for evidence-informed policymaking in governance and public administration; b) increased awareness, recognition and understanding at the political level, and in the scientific communities, of the actions and investments that are required for science and evidence to be able to fully contribute to well informed policymaking.
This report by WHO Euro reviews the current progress towards the global NCD targets and provides key recommendations for steps needed to achieve them by 2030.
The article highlights the new EU health priorities, including disease prevention, mental health, resilient healthcare systems, and a broader Planetary Health approach. These initiatives aim to strengthen wellbeing, sustainability, and align with the 2025 European Public Health Conference theme.
The aim of this project was to develop a conceptual framework and provide a common understanding of health determinants in a digital age in light of the emergence of digital determinants of health and the digital transformations of social, political, and commercial and economic determinants.
