Dear colleagues,

Appointed Section President Simon Beerten recently decided to not proceed with the Section Presidency.

Runner up Professor Jayathi Das-Munshi from Kings College London, UK, has now gladly accepted the role and has chosen as Vice-President Professor Ulrich Reininghaus, Central Institute of Mental Health Mannheim, Germany.

We warmly welcome them both as new leadership of the section. For transparency we are providing the votes overview again as well as specific number of votes for the candidates.

Now over to Jayati and Ulrich!

Public Mental Health is at an important cross-roads in Europe. We are pleased to be taking the helm at this pivotal moment in time and enthusiastically look forward to building a strong, collaborative and inclusive public mental health community across Europe, with you all.

We are keen to hear from members who would like to become more actively involved in the Section’s activities. Over the next few weeks, we will be setting up the steering committee, which will oversee the work of the Section. In particular, we want to hear from you, if you would like to get more involved in helping to shape the agenda for future meetings and other Section activities, and/ or provide input into how we communicate with and engage our members. We would especially like to hear from you if you identify as being at an earlier career stage and/ or you feel your region could be better represented in the public mental health agenda.

If you would like to get involved please send in an expression of interest to:
euphapmh@gmail.com

Please provide the following information in your expression of interest:

  1. Name, institutional affiliation, country
  2. Motivation for wanting to join the steering committee
  3. Indicate specific interests (if any): Meetings and section activities, communications, early career researcher networks

Please send in you expression of interest by Monday 23rd February 2026.

Lastly, we extend our heartfelt thanks for the unwavering commitment to and leadership of the Section which the previous President of the Section – Professor Jutta Lindert, and Vice-President Johan Bilsen provided. We are grateful for the time, energy, and expertise they have given so generously to the Section. We look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundations which they have helped to establish.

We look forward to working with you.

Best wishes

Professor Jayati Das-Munshi, Kings College London, UK
