Topic: IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND CONTAINMENT MEASURES ON THE MENTAL HEALTH OF ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE: EVIDENCE AND ACTIONS
The Coronavirus pandemic is an unprecedented public health crisis impacting all age groups and all areas of society, irrespective of the risk of exposure or disease severity. In fact, containment measures carry many risks for health, especially for mental health.
This is particularly true for youth, aged 15 – 24 yrs. With low SARS-CoV 2 mortality and a high rate of asymptomatic infections they do not belong to the risk groups for whom control and containment measures are implemented. However, containment measures, have had a heavy impact on their lives, education and social development. First evidence indicates a drastic rise in mental health problems with potential long-term impact.
The aim of this workshop is three-fold:
- Present evidence of the health impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on young people’s mental health.
- Identify the imminent, COVID-related, and long-term action needed to address mental health issues in this age group adequately.
- Discuss among participants the COVID dilemma of necessary actions to contain the virus leads to health impact elsewhere and potential solutions.
Workshop duration: 60 min.
We aim to include four presentations of each 10 minutes max. and 20 minutes discussion.
If you are interested in presenting in this workshop, please send your abstract of max. 2,000 characters, including spaces but excluding title and authors’ information by 7th April 2021 to Julia.Dratva@zhaw.ch
We will inform you on our decision by the 21st of April 2021. Please note that all presenters need to register for the congress (https://ephconference.eu/dublin-2021-186) once our workshop has been accepted.
