Call for candidates for Section Presidency
Dear colleagues,
The Section Presidency of Giuseppe Grosso will conclude this November, following two successful three-year terms. EUPHA Office extends its heartfelt gratitude to Giuseppe, Vice-Presidents Mary Rose Sweeney and Marialaura Bonaccio, secretary Maria Magnusson and steering committee members Tatjana Buzeti, Chris Birt, Lise Justesen and Enni Mertanen for their dedication and contributions to EUPHA and the Section.
We are now opening a call for candidates for the position of EUPHA-FN Section President.
Who we are looking for
We welcome applications from individuals who:
- are member of EUPHA (membership is required at the time of application);
- are located within the WHO European region;
- have professional experience in the field of the Section’s topic;
- Ideally work within a public health institute.
About the role
- A description of the Section President’s tasks can be found .
- The presidency is a three-year term, renewable once.
- The role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with leading European health information experts.
- Travel and meeting attendance costs are reimbursed by EUPHA. Please note that all other Section work is carried out on a voluntary basis.

Selection process
- The EUPHA office will verify applicants’ membership status and check for potential conflicts of interest with the pharmaceutical and/or tobacco industry.
- Applications are reviewed by the EUPHA Executive Director, the Chair of the Section Council, and the current Section’s steering committee.
- Accepted candidates will be presented to Section subscribers for voting starting
6 October, with a deadline of 9 October, 12:00 (noon) CEST. Voting will take place via an anonymous Google form managed by EUPHA office.
- The candidate with the highest number of votes will be elected Section President. All applicants will be informed by 13 October at the latest.
- The Presidency handover is at the EPH Conference in November in Helsinki during the Section’s Join the Network meeting. If the new President does not attend the conference, an online meeting will be organised with the EUPHA Executive Director and Office Manager.
Post elections
Following the election, the newly elected President will appoint a Vice-President and form the new Steering Committee and there will be an online introduction meeting with the EUPHA Executive Director, Charlotte Marchandise and Office Manager, José Velthuis.

Note: discussions regarding the ToR’s are still ongoing with the Sections and a final version regarding the ToR’s will be submitted to the Governing Board in November 2025 for approval.
