Dear Section members,

In times when Public Health is under pressure, it is important to connect and join forces with colleagues from across Europe (and beyond) with expertise in the different aspects of infectious disease control to strengthen the quality of prevention, preparedness and response. That’s why it is an honour to be appointed president of the Infectious Diseases Control section of the EUPHA – European Public Health Association. I’m looking forward to working with Vice President Maria Gańczak, the presidents of the other sections, and many more on this task. I would like to express my gratitude for the confidence you’ve placed in me by electing me as President.

During my term as President at EUPHA-IDC, I will focus on:

  • Multidisciplinary and cross-border cooperation including building bridges with collegaues in the biomedical field as well as the social sciences;
  • Knowledge sharing on innovative and evidence-based approaches;
  • Strengthening the visibility and impact of the IDC section within EUPHA and beyond;
  • Involving young professionals and stimulating leadership within the field.

If you would like to directly contribute to the IDC section, please consider applying for the Steering Committee. If you are interested in joining, please send me an email before January 15, 2026 with a motivation letter and a short bio.

For now, I would like to wish you all a warm holiday season and look forward to seeing you in 2026!

Kind regards,

Dr. Anja Schreijer
