Cities@Heart is a pan-European public–private partnership that aims to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and health inequalities in urban populations. The project develops, pilots, and evaluates whole-city strategies to improve awareness, prevention, early detection, and management of CVD, focusing on obesity, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and diabetes. Working with seven diverse European cities, Cities@Heart brings together municipalities, communities, health professionals, policymakers, and industry to co-create solutions that address unequal access to care. The initiative seeks to improve cardiovascular health outcomes while reducing social and economic costs across Europe.
EUPHA’s role as a partner
EUPHA contributes to Cities@Heart primarily through communication, dissemination, and policy engagement activities within WP9. EUPHA supports the delivery of a comprehensive communication strategy, helping tailor messages and ensuring project results reach public health professionals, policymakers, and urban health communities across Europe. It plays a key role in disseminating findings through the European Public Health Conference, joint scientific sessions, webinars, and policy-oriented platforms, including EU-level and national outreach. Through its networks and advocacy engagement, EUPHA helps translate evidence and implementation lessons into public health practice and policy, strengthening uptake of effective urban cardiovascular prevention strategies beyond the pilot cities.
