EUPHA-LAW: Regulating front-of-pack nutrition labelling conference (9-10-September 2021, online)

The Law and public health section are pleased to announce a conference we are supporting on Regulating front-of-pack nutrition labelling (FoPNL), hosted by the Law & Non-Communicable Diseases Unit at the University of Liverpool, the Health and Medical Humanities Hub at the University of Essex and the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University. The conference will explore the national, regional and global regulatory implications of FoPNL. It will focus on a range of overarching issues, including: the evidence base for FoPNL; national and regional political barriers; human rights-based approaches; global standard and harmonisation; and trade, investment and intellectual property law. With an opening address by Michael Bloomberg (former mayor of New York City). Speakers will include:

  • States and governmental organisations (European Commission, UNICEF, World Health Organization, World Trade Organization);
  • Academic experts in law, public health, etc (from 15 universities across Europe and the Americas); and
  • NGOs (Centre for Health Science and Law, European Public Health Alliance, BEUC).
The event will take place online on 9 September (1pm-5.45pm) and 10 September (10am-4.15pm) (UK BST times).
