The NEXT-FOOD-MT framework, methods and preliminary findings

Can adolescents actually interpret a food label, and how much does food-labelling literacy shape what they eat?

Using a multi-level mixed-methods framework, the study brings together linked adolescent & guardian questionnaires, focus groups, curriculum analysis, and assessments of the food environments within and around schools.

Preliminary implementation findings highlight the challenges of recruiting linked adolescents and parents, the importance of close collaboration with schools, and the need to adapt recruitment strategies as barriers emerge. The webinar will also examine food availability on campus and the options and marketing adolescents encounter nearby.

Together, these findings illustrate why food-labelling literacy is best understood within the broader environments shaping adolescent food choices.

If you are a public health professional, researcher, policymaker, or simply interested in adolescent nutrition, this webinar is for you!
