Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of death and disability in the European Union, placing a significant burden on citizens, health systems and economies. The EU Safe Hearts Plan aims to strengthen prevention, early detection and coordination across Member States, while addressing persistent inequalities in outcomes across regions and populations.
This event seeks to explore the priorities of the Plan, with a focus on the territorial dimension and the role of regions in delivering impact. It will also contribute to the forthcoming Committee of the Regions (CoR) opinion by bringing forward regional perspectives and policy needs for a more coordinated EU approach to cardiovascular health.
