Within the framework of the EUPHW 2026, the Midwifery Training Sector, Department of Nursery and Midwifery, Faculty of Public Health, Medical University of Varna, proposes an informational and educational campaign aimed at re-positioning mud therapy (pelotherapy) as a scientifically grounded, yet underutilized resource for improving women’s health.
The initiative will actively engage students from all years (1st–4th year) under the motto:
“The Method of Mud Therapy – Evidence-Based Medical Communication for Protecting Women’s Health.”
The programme will feature an interactive scientific session on:
“Mud Therapy – An Archaic Practice or an Underused Resource for Health Improvement?”, critically exploring current evidence, clinical applications, and its relevance within contemporary public health and preventive care.
Importantly, a small-scale questionnaire survey conducted among students has revealed a significant demand for clear, reliable, and evidence-based health information. This finding reflects a broader public health challenge—navigating increasing misinformation and reinforcing the need for science-based communication as a cornerstone of trust, prevention, and health literacy.
A guest expert from one of the specialised mud therapy centres in Varna will contribute practical insights and clinical cases, bridging academic knowledge with real-world application and strengthening the link between education, practice, and community health.
By combining education, evidence, and communication, the event aims not only to raise awareness but also to empower future health professionals as credible communicators, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and contribute to the broader European effort to translate evidence into action during EUPHW.
