The WHO initiative “Health Promoting Universities” represents a practical and impactful implementation of the “Health in All Policies” (HiAP) strategy. Health Promoting Universities embed health and well-being into the core mission, structure, culture, processes, and governance of higher education institutions.

This approach includes: developing policies prioritising health, sustainability and well-being; creating supportive and health-enabling environments; fostering communities and a culture of well-being; empowering university members and promoting ethics, empathy, collaboration and collective action; supporting personal development through building health-related competencies among students, academic staff and employees; integrating health, well-being and sustainability across all disciplines and curricula through intersectoral approaches; and establishing partnerships with local and global stakeholders to extend health promotion beyond the university setting.

On 4 May 2026 at 13:30, a lecture will be held in Room 1016 for first-year nursing students, focusing on the application of the Health Promoting Universities model as a practical framework for implementing “Health in All Policies” in higher education. The vent is supported by the Bulgarian Public Health Association.
