Undergraduate Nursing students enrolled in the Mental Health Nursing course at Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) developed a short awareness video addressing key mental health issues affecting the general population.
Released on Wednesday 6/4 and throughout the rest of the week, the video will be featured on the official channels of CUT and the Cyprus Epidemiology and Public Health Association (CyEPHA), as well as through students' social media ensuring wide accessibility and outreach.
This student-led initiative highlights the importance of early awareness and community engagement in mental health promotion.
Objective
The primary objective is to raise awareness among the general population on mental health issues, reduce stigma, and promote understanding, acceptance, and help-seeking behaviors. The initiative also aims to strengthen mental health literacy through accessible, evidence-based information delivered in an engaging way. By leveraging digital media, this action aspires to foster informed dialogue, increase public understanding, and contribute to a more supportive and inclusive approach to mental well-being in the community.
Content
The video combines concise statistical data related to mental health, with empowering messages aimed at reducing stigma, promoting emotional resilience, and encouraging help-seeking behaviours. By combining factual information with supportive language, the content seeks to normalize discussions around mental health and encourage individuals to prioritize their well-being.
Format
The action consists of a single video of approximately 2 minutes in duration. In the video, different Nursing students will appear sequentially, each presenting either a key statistic or an empowering message. The format is concise, visually engaging, and easy to follow, allowing for multiple voices to be heard within a unified narrative.
