Chamber of Sanitary Engineers of Slovenia - Institute of Public and Environmental Health

Slovenian Association of Public and Environmental Health Professionals – Institute of Public and Environmental Health is a scientific association and has a multidisciplinary approach to public health and is a member of IFEH (International Federation of Environmental Health) and EUPHA (European Public Health Association).

The Slovenian Association has been formed in 3rd of July 1993 in Ljubljana as an independent professional organization of the sanitary engineers who perform their occupation on the territory of the Republic of Slovenia and European Union. The Slovenian Association represents and protects the interests of its members and their reputation and it is the only kind of independent association established in EU to connect all aspects of public and environmental health in one institution. It’s primary mission is to take care for the harmonious and continual development of the profession. Part of the the Slovenian Association is a research institution called Institute of Public and Environmental Health, registered in the year 2001 as a research Institute at Ministry of higher education, science and technology of the Republic of Slovenia. The Institute’s primary activities are in the field of public health, environmental protection, food safety, water safety, , design of technologies in food production and ventilation systems, occupational health, fire safety, building physics, continues education, publishing professional books and scientifics journals in slovenian and english languages, and setting up the national standards.

Slovenian Association of Public and Environmental Health Professionals – Institute of Public and Environmental Health has developed an innovative model of promotion of Public and Environmental Health Profession on the local and global level, by starting with the innovative approach of building a professional platform sanitarc.si since year 2014. The platform sanitarc.si collects key information related to the field of Public and Environmental Health Profession in Slovenia. The platform has four levels. The first level is a historical model called Historia Sanitaria. It is an online form of chronologically arranged landmark events and achievements of established individuals in the field of the Public and Environmental Health Profession. The second level is the  scientific journal SANITARNO INZENIRSTVO / International Journal of Sanitary Engineering Research . It publishes the latest scientific achievements and results of research and professional achievements of Public and Environmental Health Professionals and other scientists and experts. The third and fourth levels are implementic models of smart specialization, and design management skills in the field of the Public and Environmental Health Profession.
