European Public Health Week 2026: Join the movement for sustainable health and well-being

From 4–8 May 2026, the public health community across Europe will once again come together for European Public Health Week (EUPHW) — a week dedicated to raising awareness, sharing knowledge and mobilising action for better health for all.

Organised annually by EUPHA, the European Public Health Week provides a platform for professionals, institutions, students and citizens to highlight the importance of public health and to collaborate on addressing today’s most pressing health challenges.

Turning commitment into action

EUPHW represents a moment when the spirit and commitments of the European public health community are translated into concrete action across Europe. Each year, hundreds of organisations and thousands of individuals host events, discussions and activities that bring public health topics into focus and encourage collaboration across sectors.

From local workshops and webinars to national campaigns and policy dialogues, EUPHW creates space for learning, exchange and mobilisation. By connecting initiatives across countries and disciplines, the week helps strengthen the visibility and impact of public health across Europe.

Theme for 2026

All activities during EUPHW 2026 will fall under the overarching theme:

Investing for sustainable health and well-being

This theme highlights the importance of long-term, equitable investments in public health systems, communities and policies that support healthier societies.

Each day of the week will focus on a specific topic:

  • Aligning all policies with public health
  • Prioritising equity through inclusive health investments
  • Mental health at the crossroads: investing across public health, primary health care and communities
  • Protecting public health and democracy: tackling disinformation, strengthening accountability, and building trust
  • Strengthening and supporting the health workforce

These themes reflect the growing recognition that health is shaped not only by healthcare systems, but also by social, political and economic environments.

A growing European initiative

European Public Health Week continues to expand each year. In 2025, more than 20 European countries actively participated, hosting 298 events throughout the week. Of these, 183 events were held in person, while 115 were organised online or in hybrid formats, enabling participation from across Europe and beyond.

Together, these initiatives reached thousands of professionals, students and citizens, demonstrating the strong and growing engagement of the public health community.

EUPHW is supported by a growing network of European and national organisations, including research institutes, NGOs, ministries and universities. These partners play an essential role in amplifying the message and mobilising communities across Europe.

Get involved

European Public Health Week is open to everyone — from national health institutes and universities to local communities, schools and civil society organisations. Whether you are organising an event or attending one, EUPHW offers a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, inspire action and highlight the importance of public health in our societies.
