Health should be included in impact assessment EU climate target

The European Commission launched a call for evidence in relation to a 2040 climate target for the EU. While economic, social, environmental, and fundamental rights and equality impacts are considered in the call, health impacts are strikingly missing. EUPHA and its Environment and health section argue in their response to the call that both individual and population health should be used more intensively as a strong argument in motivating all sectors and decision makers in taking initiative towards a 2040 climate target.
