Zsuzsanna Jakab is a Hungarian public health expert who has served as Deputy Director General of the World Health Organization from 7 March 2019 to 21 April 2024. She was appointed Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2019, after having served as WHO Regional Director for the European Region for nine years.
From 2005-2010 Ms Jakab served as the founding Director of the European Union’s European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Stockholm, Sweden.
