EUPHAnxt newsletter

Dear EUPHAnxt subscribers,

You are all very welcome to the first EUPHAnxt newsletter of 2026! In this newsletter, we are delighted to introduce two new EUPHAnxt team members, Saoirse Moriarty and Enrique Pérez Figuereo. Please see below for their full introductions. For those of you who are new, EUPHAnxt is a unique network within EUPHA for students and young professionals, including early-career researchers and policymakers in the field of public health. EUPHAnxt is a free and open initiative that aims to inform and involve future generations in the European and multidisciplinary network of public health associations.

You are encouraged to share related opportunities and events with us, and we would be pleased to disseminate them to our network. EUPHAnxt is open to partnering with student organisations in Europe. If you are a part of an organisation that may be interested in joining forces, please contact us.

Meet our new team members!

Enrique Pérez Figuereo

Communication Manager

Enrique is a healthcare documentalist with strong expertise in health information management and clinical coding. He brings practical experience working across healthcare and public health settings in both Spain and the United Kingdom.

He is currently working for the Spanish Ministry of Health, where he is involved in initiatives related to the European Health Data Space, supporting efforts to improve the use and interoperability of health data across Europe. His international experience and commitment to effective communication make him passionate about strengthening engagement within the European public health community through accessible, coordinated outreach and content.

Saoirse Moriarty

Capacity Building Manager

Saoirse is currently pursuing a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London (UCL) and holds an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Alongside her doctoral research, Saoirse works as a Research Associate at RAND Europe, currently conducting an evaluation of a cancer screening programme.

With an interdisciplinary background, her research interests include place-based approaches to public health, health systems strengthening, and the application of AI in health research.

Upcoming EUPHA Section mid-term conferences 

  • Health and Care Workforce Section mid-term conference

23–24 April 2026 | Cluj-Napoca, Romania

The Health and Care Workforce Section will host its 2026 mid-term conference in Cluj-Napoca, focusing on current and emerging challenges affecting the health and care workforce across Europe. Pre-registration is now open. By signing up, participants will receive conference updates and early information on registration.

 

  • Bridging the gap in multimorbidity: from epidemiology to real-world settings

3–4 June 2026 | Copenhagen, Denmark

This two-day symposium, organized by the EUPHA Chronic Diseases Section together with national and international partners, will explore how knowledge on multimorbidity can be translated into real-world prevention, care, and policy.

EPH Conference 2026

The 19th EPH Conference 2026 will take place in  Bilbao, Spain (10 – 13 November 2026) with the theme: “Urban and global synergies: shaping the future of public health with climate resilience, equity and innovation”.  Stay tuned for abstract submission details!

Other opportunities

The European Cancer Screening and Early Detection Policy Summit will showcase three implementation-focused projects under the EU4Health Programme 2021-2027. The summit will take place 17-18 February 2026, and registration is available for both in-person attendance (Brussels, Belgium) and online. Learn more and register here.

Organized by EuroNet MRPH and Young WFPHA, this course is designed to support the next generation of public health leaders in navigating the complex landscape of health policymaking. Responding to the growing demand for cross-disciplinary and practice-oriented skills, the programme combines theoretical foundations with practical insights into health governance, diplomacy, communication, and ethics. The course will be held on Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25, and Thursday 26 February 2026, from 15:00 to 17:15 CET. The format will be online, with recorded sessions. Learn more and register here.
