SOME SECTION’S NEWS IN 2024
Some section 2024 initiatives that are aligned to our strategic goals can be found below. It is our effort to keep evolving to meet the changing needs of our members. More precisely, EUPHA Injury Section:
- Co-organized awareness raising events on DRINK DRIVING during the European Public Health Week (EPHW2024) in May 2024, together with the Regional Health Authority, Universities and NGOs in Greece.
- Started a new Horizon project “ProtAct-Us from long-term consequences of road crashes” aiming at merging solid medical knowledge with innovative engineering solutions to protect all road users from serious injuries and the long-term physical, cognitive, and mental health consequences of road crashes.. This project received funding under grant agreement No. 101147445. The kick-off meeting was held in June 2024 at Graz, Austria.
- Co-organized side events for SAFE DRIVING at EUROBASKET (U16), a high-profile FIBA tournament held in Heraklion Greece, between 9-17 August 2024 together with EuroSafe, the Hellenic Basketball Federation and other NGOs.
- Presented data from 3-countries from the Child Vigilance Project (CHIVI) in ICE network at University of Chicago, India on the 31st August 2024 as well as in SAFETY 2024 Conference in India, 2-4 September 2024.
- Presented the European situation regarding “Injuries among elder residents of institutional care: shortcomings and implications for policy” at the European Forum for Primary Care (EFPC) 17-19 September Ljubljana, Slovenia.
- Participated in multi-agency meeting in Cyprus (police, university, NGO) in October 5th 2024 about capacity building in road safety promotion.
- Participated in the WHO RC74 in October 29-31 at Copenhagen with live joint statements on health and safety topics.
