This March 2022, we are profoundly concerned about the health and safety of children and youth in the Ukraine and their families. We recently supported the and published to underline the grave consequences of war, anywhere on the world in fact, for this age group. The European public health community stands and works together for a peaceful and healthy future.
We wish to share with you two up-coming events and a call for abstracts:
European Public Health Week (EUPHW) 16-20 May 2022 .
The overall theme of EUPHW is ‘health throughout the life course’. The daily themes:
• May 16 – A healthy and health literate youth
• May 17- Vaccination as a key prevention strategy
• May 18 – Climate change affects our health
• May 19 – No health without mental health
• May 20 – Building resilient health systems
We recommend that you note the abstract submission deadline is 1st May 2021.
Further, we are looking ahead to the EPH conference in Berlin, 9 – 12 November 2022. The theme is “Strengthening health systems: improving population health and being prepared for the unexpected”.
Call for abstracts: For this conference we are calling for abstracts for a workshop on “Low hanging fruit in mental health promotion and interventions for children and adolescents?”, organized in collaboration with the mental health section. Please see at the end of the letter the full call. Questions or abstracts can be sent to .

Call for abstracts for EPH Conference 2022 (9. – 12. November) :
Invitation to submit an abstract to the following workshop:
Low hanging fruit in mental health promotion and interventions for children and adolescents
We reach out to you, experts, scientists and practitioners in the field, to participate in our workshop. There is a pressing need for sharing evidence and experience! If you have research to share on this topic,we invite you to send an abstract to the organizer by 4th of April 2022.

Context: The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the already high burden in children and adolescents and has caused an increasing mental health burden in this age group.
More than ever do we need to offer children and adolescents preventive interventions, treatment and support, as well as more general promote resilience and well-being.
This workshop is about the “low-hanging fruit” in mental health promotion and prevention. With this we mean programs or interventions that can be implemented with little effort (e.g. low resources), that are easily accessible for children and adolescents (low threshold), and can be implemented quickly (quick action) while achieving the objectives of increased well-being and mental health. It also entails
Aims: The aim of this workshop is three-fold:
1. Present interventions and projects that are evidence-based and transferable.
2. Indicate to participants what makes these interventions or projects a “low hanging fruit” for the better of the children and adolescents. For example, what makes the project accessible for parents of young children, children or adolescents
3. Provide room for discussion and collegial support in implementation of interventions and project for mental health in children and adolescents
Workshop duration: 60 min. We wish to include four presentations of each 10 minutes max. and 20 minutes discussion.

We will inform you on our decision by the 25th of April 2021 at the latest. Submission for EPH 2022 ends on the 1st of May. Please note that all presenters need to register for the congress (https://ephconference.eu/dublin-2021-186) once our workshop has been accepted.
