Registration:
The Webinar is organised by the Global Health Groningen Research Centre, the UK Faculty of Public Health, the European Public Health Association Law and Public Health and the Environmental Health sections, in collaboration with a range of other partners.
The session will include presentations and panel discussion by distinguished legal scholars, policy makers and public health practitioners exploring the challenges and opportunities for advancing arguments in strategic litigation, in particular its health, environmental and human right dimensions.
The session will provide opportunity to share, reflect and consult on the:
- Opportunities and trends for strategic litigation on climate change and public health.
- Opportunities for drawing from health arguments relating to climate change in building legal human rights claims
- Opportunities for collaboration and strategic partnerships between legal scholars, academics, public health practitioners, advocates and policy makers in tackling climate change
- And to Learn both from (past) cases and for (pending) climate cases, and how health arguments may be better build and integrated in legal argumentation and advocacy

The new guidelines provide clear evidence of the damage air pollution inflicts on human health and recommend new air quality levels to protect the health of populations, by reducing levels of key air pollutants, some of which also contribute to climate change.

Information: Climate negotiations COP 26
COP26 is the first UN global climate summit since the start of the pandemic. With health dominating the political agenda, the health community has an opportunity to make a difference to the negotiations if we raise our voices together. Signing the #HealthyClimate Prescription letter is an important step in the global effort for ambitious climate action, but we can do more as the health community to make sure decision makers and the general public understand the critical importance of reducing emissions and addressing climate change.
